Oscar Ryan BA
Graphics Technician/Surveyor



Oscar graduated from the National University of Ireland Maynooth in 2002 with a BA in History & Greek and Roman Civilization. He has worked for many archaeological consultancies in Ireland since then and his experience includes desk based assessments, testing, excavation, post-excavation and AutoCad.


His interest in AutoCad and Cartography led him to be trained as an Archaeological Land Surveyor in 2005. He has up to date training in GPS, Total Station and various geomatic softwares.

He has a particular interest in recording architectural facades and also has conducted pre/post-excavation topographical surveys with his knowledge and experience in 3D surface modelling.

He regularly tutors courses in the archaeological application of modern survey techniques and has carried out and is currently involved in various independent heritage research programmes. He is currently awaiting the publication of an industrial heritage report he carried out in 2010.

Oscar joined TVAS (Ireland) Ltd in 2010 and since that time has overseen the surveying and draughting requirements on the M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy road scheme project from testing to excavation to post-excavation. He also acts as an archaeological supervisor for TVAS and loves to be out in the fresh air come rain or shine.
